In May of 2022, our client was casually driving home from a Sunday visit with family, when suddenly a careless driver turned into his lane causing a disastrous head-on collision on Southwestern Boulevard in Hamburg, New York. He was knocked unconscious, suffered multiple broken bones, and sustained significant lacerations to his head. We received a call from his family while he was recovering from surgery at the hospital, and firm Co-founder and attorney John Richmond immediately went to be by his side. John and his team immediately began investigating, giving he and his family some assurance and peace of mind. When the careless driver and their insurance company attempted to shift blame on our client, we were ready. Although there was no video of the collision occurring and a conflicting story and excuses from the careless driver, both John and attorney Michael Szczygiel worked relentlessly to obtain witness accounts, on-board vehicle data recordings, nearby surveillance videos, photographs, and technical analysis from collision experts to reconstruct the accident.
After proving to the insurance company the facts of the accident, the insurance company then fought to avoid responsibility by disputing the seriousness of our client’s injuries to avoid paying the just compensation we knew he deserved. At this point, we ordered and diligently analyzed our client’s medical records. Armed with this evidence, we drafted a demand package addressed to the insurance company which set forth in detail each and every one of the numerous injuries and dates of treatment and medical providers, and we included the thousands of pages of medical records and medical images to back it all up. The insurance company took a stand and made an offer of $550,000. We continued fighting and negotiating for our client and in a matter of months – not years – we obtained justice and a $1,200,000 settlement.
